Lonnie Flippo, age 77, of Greenwood, AR passed away Monday, March 4, 2024. He was born June 25, 1946, in Porterville, CA, son of John and Opal (Richardson) Flippo.
Lonnie attended school in Omaha, AR. He was a Veteran of the US Army where he served in the First Calvary Division “Airborn” during the Vietnam War. Lonnie received several Medals, including two bronze stars and two Purple Hearts. On November 21, 1969, he was united in marriage to his childhood sweetheart, Mary Todd. He spent most of his working career as an auto body metal finisher and was employed at Federal Coach, Fort Smith, AR until his retirement. Lonnie was a wonderful man who loved his family unconditionally. He enjoyed their yearly family vacations all over the United States. He especially loved taking their pontoon boat on Lake Ouachita and going on “back road” trips, looking for old cars and just enjoying the countryside.
Lonnie leaves behind the love of his life, Mary Flippo of the home, son Chris Flippo and wife Brittney of Greenwood, grandchildren, Joss, Blythe and Lewy and sister-in-law Dorinda Flippo of Green Forest.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Ethel Gardner, Ella Flud, Evelyn Flippo, two brothers, Johnny Flippo and Luther Flippo.
Graveside service will be 1:00 PM, Friday March 8, 2024, at Denver Cemetery, with Military Funeral honors.
