Loral Alene Woods passed this world on May 27, 2025. She was 94 years old.

Born Loral Alene Howard in Dry Fork on March 21, 1931, to Olney and Edna (Gage) Howard. Loral’s first marriage was to Clay McCollough of Rudd with whom she had three children, Jerry McCollough of Hog Eye, AR, Sharon Wade (husband Dale) of Hindsville, AR and Laura Heiskell (husband Dan) of Yellville, AR.  Her second marriage of 41 years was to Troy Woods from Huntsville who had three children from a previous marriage. They lived in Springdale until they retired to “the farm” in Rudd where they lived until their passings. She was “Granny” to 5 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren.

Loral worked in the poultry processing industry all her life, starting out in Berryville for Ocoma Foods and in 1966 moving to Springdale to work for Springdale Farms, Wilson & Co. and working until retirement at Tyson Foods.

She was preceded in death by her husband Troy Woods, an infant daughter, her mother Edna Howard, father Olney Howard, sister Dixie Howerton, son Jerry McCollough, and daughter Sharon Wade.

For many years she loved to crochet and made and gave away many beautiful afghans. She also had a talent for sewing, everything from home decor to Barbie doll clothes to clothes for her children. She also liked the feel of working her hands through the dirt planting flowers and seeds for the garden.

Although she didn’t like to leave her home, she was always waiting at her back door to greet whoever came up her driveway but mostly anticipating a visit from her children.

Graveside service for Alene will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Gobbler Cemetery with Rev. Greg Lentz officiating. Online condolences can be made at smithfamilyfuneralhome.net.
