Audrey Gifford

Audrey Grace Gifford, of Berryville, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024, at the age of 96. She was born May 21, 1927, in Oak Grove, AR to Marion and Irene Plumlee Sooter. She was united in marriage to Maurice Victor Gifford on July 6, 1953. In 1983 the family relocated from California to Arkansas.

Audrey dedicated her life to her family. She was a loving mother to each of her 4 children and she was the key to the upbringing of her grandchildren. She was always there for her family. She spent her life as a homemaker, and she enjoyed gardening. She designed and quilted some of the most beautiful blankets.

Audrey is survived by 3 daughters and 1 son: Rita Caygill of Oak Grove, Nancy Thompson and her husband Troy of Oak Grove, Jayne Lang of Oak Grove, and Mark Gifford and his wife Lori of Berryville. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Chloe Caygill, Emma Caygill, Sarah Zimmerman and her husband Luke, Kaitlyn Thompson, Ashley Thompson, Chris Thompson and his wife Stephanie, Marcus Gifford and Michelle Gifford; 14 great grandchildren, Lorelai, Karlie, Mallorie, Charlotte, Ronin, Christopher, Lilly, Bristol, Dawson, Lance, Francis, Davis, Hazel, Eliza and Cora Lou; and 1 brother Harold Sooter.

She is preceded in death by her husband Maurice Victor, parents Marion and Irene Sooter, brother Ralph Sooter, sister-in-law Joyce Sooter, son-in-law Fred Lang, and son-in-law Chris Caygill.

Celebration of Life service for Audrey will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Hale Cemetery in Oak Grove with Pastor Keith Butler officiating. Online condolences can be made at www.smithfamilyfuneralhome.net.
