Barbara Cawrse Obituary


Barbara Juanita Cawrse (Shackleford) 76, of Berryville AR, passed away on February 22, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Berryville. She was born on March 4, 1944 in Tempe Arizona, the 5th daughter of Evelyn Prince and Edward Shackleford. She had six sisters and a brother.

Growing up, Barbara’s family moved around from place to place. She has worked in several hospitals including 7 years at the hospital in Berryville back when it was Carroll General Hospital. She has also worked in nursing homes over the years and was even a home health aide for 4 years. She retired from Tyson Foods in Berryville in 2012 after working there for 10 years.

Barbara loved to be outside doing anything. Whether it was planting flowers or making flowerbeds or rock patios or just working in the yard in general. She was happiest as long as she would be doing something outside. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved to sing and was a huge fan of Elvis Presley. The Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays were her favorite time of year.

Barbara is survived by 3 daughters; Sharon Hill in Oregon, Jerry Lynn Hill of Green Forest Arkansas, Daniela (Cawrse) Gage and husband Rodney of Berryville AR. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren; Lesslie McIver of Battle Ground Washington, Michelle McIver in Oregon, Stephanie Pittman of Eureka Springs Arkansas, her one and only grandson Brian Badley of Green Forest, Sarah Dooley of Green Forest, and Brianna Gage of Berryville. And 9 great grandchildren. She is also survived by 3 sisters and a brother and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and 3 sisters.
