Betty Jane (Getting) Strole, of Kingston, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, 6/21/2023. She was born February 29, 1932, in Lake Preston, South Dakota to the late Clarence Getting and Della Marion (Farnsworth) Getting.
She grew up on farms in South Dakota and Iowa and graduated high school in Sanborn, Iowa. She loved trumpet, 4H and farm life. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Iowa and worked as a nurse in the Los Angeles, California area. Because she was a registered nurse (RN), she became a stewardess for Slick Airlines. She traveled worldwide and especially loved visiting Wake Island, Hawaii, and Japan. On August 23, 1958, she married the late Charles (Chuck) Strole in Van Nuys, California. She was a homemaker in Palmdale, Northridge, and Three Points, CA. She worked as an elementary school nurse for the LA City School District. She was a member of Granada Hills Methodist Church, Leona Valley Baptist Church, Osage Baptist Church and Rudd Baptist Church; she enjoyed serving in the choir, the kitchen, the nursery and anywhere she was needed. She and Chuck were married 59 years. She loved to cook, bake, share recipes, sew, read, garden, and travel; she especially loved hosting and being with friends and family.
She is survived by her sisters, Marlene Sherman, and Helen Buse and her husband Ray, brother Dennis Getting and his wife Pauline; sons, Greg Strole and wife Cindy of Siloam Springs, Doug Strole of Kingston, daughter, Jeanette Pierce and husband John of Citrus Heights, California, grandchildren, Jereme Pierce and wife Catherine, Kaeti Roberts and husband Jay, Hannah Prevost and husband Ed, Rachel Jordan, Sarah Strole and husband Pete, Curtis Strole and wife Cheriese, Emily Vilbrun and husband Mickenson, Dorothy Letelier and husband Casey, Molly Asamura and husband Andrew, Linda Woltman, Forest Woltman; 27 great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Virginia (Getting) Rohwer. A memorial service to celebrate this special life will be given at Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Greg Lentz officiating.
