Bobbie Rae Bailey

Bobbie Rae Bailey 86, of Alpena, AR passed from this life on Monday, March 15, 2021.  She entered eternal life in her daughter’s home in Azle, TX.  She was born in Monroe, LA on October 25, 1934 daughter of Edna Pearrow.  On November 2, 1952 she was united in marriage with Kenneth Ray Bailey.  They moved from Texas to Arkansas in 1956.  She worked at Franz Foods in Berryville, AR and Tyson Foods in Green Forest, AR.  She went to school while working at Tyson to become a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Federal inspector in 1972.  She retired from Federal Service in 1993.  She was the mayor of Alpena, AR from 1994 through 2019.  She was a member of the Alpena, AR Church of Christ and attended the Boyd, TX Church of Christ while living with her daughter.  She enjoyed being mayor of Alpena and truly loved representing the people of the town she called home.  Due to her twenty-five years as a faithful public servant she was awarded an honorary lifelong membership to the Arkansas Municipal League.  Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Kenneth Bailey, her son Kenneth Allen Bailey and her daughter Sharon Kay Bailey Jones.  Bobbie is survived by her daughter, Glenda Bailey Thomason and husband Rick of Azle, TX; granddaughter Heather Thomason Womack and husband Andrew of Azle, TX; grandson Brad Thomason and wife Christy of Paradise, TX; grandson Thomas Jones of Harrison, AR; granddaughter Carlie Bailey of Berryville, AR; great-grandchildren A.J. Womack of Alpena, AR, Allison Thomason of Paradise, TX, Averie Womack of Searcy, AR, Austin Womack of Azle, TX and Braxton Thomason of Paradise, TX.  She has many nieces and nephews.  She was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.  Celebration of life will be 10:30 AM Friday, March 19, 2021 at Alpena Church of Christ, in Alpena, AR. Visitation will be 9:00-10:30 AM before the service begins.  Bobbie will be laid to rest alongside her husband in Alpena Cemetery.
