Bonnie Lucille Newberry, a long-time resident of Green Forest, Arkansas, was called home to be with our Lord and Savior on June 7, 2025, at the age of 84. She was born in Jane, Missouri, on October 30, 1940, to Willie Homer and Dora Ellen (Mahurin) Stephens. Bonnie was the youngest of ten children in the Stephens family.

Bonnie married the love of her life, Theodore “Wilson” Newberry, on May 2, 1959, in the home of Reverend Bob Cooper in Granby, Missouri. They were married for 62 years. The couple moved to Lodi, California, shortly after their wedding, and in October of 1960, Bonnie and Wilson welcomed their first child, Kathy Eleen. The family moved to Neosho, Missouri, in 1962, where their second daughter, Sandra Ellen, was born. They spent a few years in Osage, Arkansas where Danny Allen was born, in 1965. Bonnie and Wilson settled in Green Forest, Arkansas in 1966. Their youngest daughter, Dianna Lynn, was born in 1969.

Bonnie was a dedicated and hardworking mother. Over the years, she held several jobs. Her first job was babysitting for a family in Boulder City, Missouri. She also worked as a Teacher’s Aide at Green Forest HeadStart, cashiered at Tanner’s Grocery store, and was employed at Stephen’s Glass, and Tyson Foods for many years. Bonnie was also known for owning and operating the Purple Iris, a local business, and for helping Wilson to raise Tyson’s chickens for ten years on their farm.

Bonnie is survived by her three daughters: Kathy (Jimmy) Wolfinbarger of Berryville, AR; Sandra (Brent) Ahne of Conway, AR; and Dianna (James) Marshall of Green Forest, AR. She also leaves behind her beloved sister, Naomi Lee Haviland Bailey Lewis; fourteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wilson Newberry, and her son Danny Newberry. She was also preceded by her siblings: Zola Griffith, Oleta Cargile, Myrle Stout, Vivian Blevins, Dean Rodney, Pearl Blevins, Kenneth Stephens, and Carnie Enlow Stephens.

Celebration of Life service for Bonnie will be 10:00 AM, Friday, June 13, 2025, at Smith Family Funeral Home, with Brother Scott Bailey and Brother Melvin “Hap” Anders officiating. Interment will follow at Rule Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Thursday, June 12, 2025 at Smith Family Funeral. Online condolences can be made at www.smithfamilyfuneralhome.net.
