D.L Bailey Obituary

Denver Louis (D.L.) Bailey, of Alpena, AR was born January 24, 1933 in Alpena to Tom and Alice (Dillingham) Bailey. He passed from this life Thursday, August 16, 2018 at the age of 85.

D.L. was a resident of Alpena most of his life. He worked as a third generation stone and brick mason for many years, being taught the trade by his father. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. D.L. loved to fish and hunt and had fished the local and Mid- Western pro-am fishing tournaments. He enjoyed hunting with his sons, cousins and friends in Colorado and realized a life-long dream to go to Alaska. He loved making arrowheads, raising registered fox trotting horses and had a special love for his dog Pepper. Denver loved his family and felt blessed that his children, as adults, stayed in the area and raised their families so that he could call and visit them often and watch the grandchildren grow up.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Emma Jean (Sims) of the home; sons Garry Bailey of Alpena, Edward Bailey and wife Laura of Alpena; daughters Myra Colliver and husband Mike of Harrison; Edana Cole and husband Edward of Harrison; ten grandchildren; Kevin and Jeremy Colliver, Jamie Hall, Kimberly Johnson, Kendra Bailey, Bradley Bailey, Sarah Bailey, Andy Bailey, AnneJanette Cole, Logan Cole; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters; Lillian Carpenter of Alpena, Florine Thomason and husband Gerald of Harrison, brother-in-law Dewey Stephens of Alpena, sister-in-law Wynema Graves of Alpena; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

D.L. was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sons; Allen Dean and Kevin Lee Bailey; infant grandchild Brenden Cole; one sister, Christine Stephens; and 2 brothers-in-law Jerry Carpenter and J.D. Graves.
