On May 21, 2025, David Eugene Fultz was called home to be with the Lord, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering love, devotion, and faith. Born on July 9, 1949, in Harrison, Arkansas, to Floyd Eugene Fultz and Iva Marie Fultz, David was the first of four children. He grew up on the family dairy farm, where he learned the values of hard work, dedication, and love for the land.
During his high school years, David fell in love with his sweetheart, Judy Lee McCullough. They were married on June 26, 1970, and shared a beautiful life together for 41 years until she preceded him in death in 2012. Their love was built on a foundation of faith, commitment, and deep devotion to one another, serving as an inspiration to all who knew them.
David was a beloved spouse, father, grandparent, and friend, whose unconditional love and steadfast devotion reflected Christ’s teachings. His life was a testament of strength, faithfulness, and courage, always willing to offer the shirt off his back and a word of encouragement. He was a true prayer warrior, not only through his own trials but in the trials of others. Many notes were jotted down, mentioning those he was dedicated to praying for, demonstrating his deep care and intercessory spirit.
As a dedicated member of Osage Baptist Church, David’s faith and commitment to the Lord were the foundation of his life. His love for God, family, and his fellow man was a true reflection of his walk with Christ. He served as a deacon there, and lived each day with a servant’s heart, sharing kindness, wisdom, and generosity with those around him. David also volunteered for the Alpena Fire Department in his service for years processing reports on the national registry.
Though we grieve, we find comfort in knowing that David is now in the presence of our Savior. As Hebrews 6:19 reminds us, "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure." His unwavering faith was a guiding light, offering hope and assurance to all who knew him.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Eugene Fultz and Iva Marie Fultz; his sister, Marianne Fultz; his wife, Judy Fultz; and his great-grandson, Warren Gene Cole. He is survived by his sisters, Jill Wolf (Greg) of Springfield, MO, and Pamela Disheroon (Mike) of Alpena, AR. His children, Monica Colbert (Russell), Mark Fultz (Dena), and Tony Fultz (Shelly), all of Alpena, AR, continue his legacy. Also surviving him is the pride of Papa and Nan’s lives, their 11 grandchildren: Savannah Cole (Jordan), Erica Ewing (Dalton), Rusty Colbert (Jen), Wesley Colbert, Asher Fultz, Addyson Fultz, DJ Colbert (Olivia), Maelee Richardson (Colton), Judah Fultz, Zion Fultz, and Ireland Fultz. He enjoyed eight great-grandchildren: Rosie, LinLee, and Chase Ewing; the late Warren Gene Cole; Hank and Lennan Cole; Ezra Colbert; and Tripp Colbert.
A celebration of David’s life will be held on May 28th at Osage Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m., with Pastors Wade Edwards and Lannie Younger officiating. Interment will follow at Carrollton Cemetery. The visitation will take place on May 27th at Osage Baptist Church from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. As one of the charter members of Osage Baptist Church, any donations may be made in honor of David to the OBC Youth Group.
