David Meyers Obituary

David Brian Meyers went home to Jesus on April 7, 2022, at age 62 surrounded by his wife and daughter in Arkansas.

David was born to Raymond and Victoria Meyers on October 9, 1959, in Aberdeen, Washington. At age 17 David joined the United States Coast Guard and served for 30 years retiring at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4 (CWO4). David then went on to work as the Superintendent of Maintenance for the City of Novato in California for 11 years before fully retiring. David and Lorraine then moved to Berryville, Arkansas to be closer to Lorraine’s family.

David met his loving wife, Lorraine (Christian), in November 1979 while stationed at Group Humboldt Bay and just celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary. They welcomed their daughter, Stephanie, in December 1986. David, Lorraine, and Stephanie endured many moves during David’s military career but always had each other as the “three amigos” no matter where they lived.Stephanie married Kurt Stricklen in 2007 and have three children: Landon, Olivia, and Josiah. “Papa” was by far David’s favorite name to be called and his proudest accomplishment in life was his family. David was always sure to express how proud he was of Stephanie’s career as a Registered Nurse and Kurt’s 20-year career in the United States Coast Guard. When it came to his three grandchildren, David never missed the opportunity to spend quality time and express his love for each of them.

In addition, David also had a passion for serving others in any way that they needed. He served his family, his Country, his community, his friends, and his church body. David held unwavering faith in God, was a deacon at Calvary Chapel Petaluma, and served as a high school youth counselor for over 10 years. He loved cooking delicious food, often using vegetables from his garden, and no one ever walked away hungry! David’s legacy of serving others before self will be carried on by his family and all those who knew him.

Some of David’s favorite past times included hiking, fishing, and working on cars with his brother-in-law, Steve Talley. Watching his favorite NASCAR driver, #9 Chase Elliott, was always on his radar for the weekends.

David was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Nicole; his parents Raymond and Victoria Meyers; his older brother, Raymond; and his sister-in-law, Mary Talley. He is survived by his wife Lorraine; daughter Stephanie; son in law Kurt; grandchildren Landon, Olivia, and Josiah; his five brothers, Ed, Mike, Tony, Jeff, Kelly; brother-in-law, Steve Talley; sister-in-law Cyndy Williams; sister-in-law Linda Arnold; brother-in-law Carl Buckner; brother-in-law Mark Christian; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of David’s life is being planned for this summer.
