Donnie Kay McAlister, age 79, of Green Forest, AR, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on May 26, 2026, at Cox Medical Center, Branson, MO. Donnie was born on August 3, 1946, in the Osage Community, (Possum Trot) son of Bruce and Lucille (Underdown) McAlister. He attended school in Osage, and as a young boy he helped on the family farm and in the garden.

Donnie or “Don” as most everyone knew him by, was a hardworking man who loved life’s simple pleasures. His kindness, wisdom, and loving spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Don worked in the timber industry most all his life and was employed by McNair and Davidson Sawmills.

Don and his wife Shirley enjoyed camping at the lake and going to yard sales. Although considered hard work by most, Don found pleasure and enjoyment in cutting and hauling wood. Don was a member of the Green Forest Cowboy Church.

Don was preceded in death by his wife of 20 years, Shirley McAlister, his parents Bruce and Lucille McAlister, two brothers Bob and Troy McAlister, sister Lucy McNair, and brothers-in-law Vernon Amer and Leo Davidson.

Don is survived by 2 children: son Tony McAlister of Harrison and daughter Heather McAlister of Harrison;  step-daughters, Terri Dickinson and husband Randall of Oak Grove and  Tammi McCutchen and husband Gary of Harrison, and step-sons, Jason Davidson and wife Stacey of Berryville and Kevin Meek and wife Chrystal of Gainesville MO; two sisters, Mary Armer and Charlene Davidson both of Harrison; brother Ronnie McAlister and wife Debbie of Fayetteville;  two sisters-in-law Madlyn McAlister of Carrollton and Roberta McAlister  of Alpena; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and  nephews along with a host of other family and friends.

Celebration of Life will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest with Pastor Doug Blevins officiating. Visitation will be 9-10 AM prior to the start of the service. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Green Forest Cowboy Church.
