Doyle Franklin Root, age 82, of Kingston, Arkansas, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 30, 2026, in Berryville, Arkansas. He was born on September 14, 1943, in Kingston, Arkansas, to Jesse Ray Root and Velie Victoria Yingst.

Doyle was known to many in the Kingston community as “Poppy.” He was a devoted father, poppy, and brother whose diligent and hardworking spirit showed in his care for his family and friends.

He gave 26 years of dedicated service to the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department from 1979 to 2005. He took great pride in his work, and even more in his family. Throughout his retirement, he spent his days on his farm outside of Kingston, passionate about his horse riding. He looked forward to all his trail rides with the cowboys. And he even more enjoyed his time with his friends at the Kingston Station.

Doyle served as a faithful pastor of the Elkhorn Church for 42 dedicated years. He continued to walk with Christ until his day of passing, where he resides with our Lord today.

He is survived by his close friend, Betty Turnbough; his brother, Lloyd Root and his wife Joyce; and his three children, Robbie Root, Stacy Root and his wife April, and Shairlyn Flippo and her husband Eugene.

Also surviving are his four grandchildren, Sara Campbell and her husband Devon, Haley Dye and her husband Caleb, Jesse Root and his wife Morgan, and Zachre Root and his wife Olivia; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Kenneth, Von, Clarence, Ray, and Earnest Root, and sisters Pearl Ramsey, Freda Voyles, Lesbia Coffelt, Rosie Heller, and Ina Ross.

Celebration of Life service will be 10 AM, Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Bradshaw Mountain Holiness Church in Kingston with Bro. Mike Montgomery and Bro. Brent Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 PM, Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at the church.

Pallbearers include: Willard “Sonny” Villines, Teddy Villines, Donnie Kee, Glen Reynolds, Martin Sims, and Willie Styles. Honorary Pallbearers include: the retired and active employees of the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department who had the privilege of working alongside Doyle during his 26 years of service, and all the horseback riding friends whose friendship enriched his life.
