Frank Dickinson

Frank Dickinson, age 82, of Green Forest, AR passed away July 10, 2020. He was born June 6, 1938 in Rockville, MO son of Ralph and Vera (Schlack) Dickinson. At age 16 Frank quit school and joined the Army where he served in the Korean War. After finishing his military career after 3 years he traveled though out Korea during his time abroad. On February 7, 1959 he was united in marriage with Joyce Humbard. Joyce and Frank spent 49 years and eight months together. They would leave love notes for each other and their special song was “Hello Darling” by Conway Twitty. He loved buying his sweetheart flowers and after she was called to heaven, Frank planted zinnias every year in her memory. After 10 years a sweet woman came into Frank’s life. Cheryl helped him learn how to be happy again. They would travel, go out to eat, spend time together and just enjoy each other’s company.  Frank was a faithful Christian with a hard work ethic. He loved the Lord and his family and gave freely to anyone in need. He was humble, faithful, very disciplined, and had a huge, tender heart. He was one of the strongest men when it came to strength, he would try to break your hand with a handshake. Franks words of wisdom were, always put God first in everything you do and if you tell someone you are going to do something...do it RIGHT.  On The lighter side he would say “You can get glad in the same pants you got mad in” to ease tension. When disciplining his children they would hear “This is going to hurt me more than it hurts you". Frank had a contagious laugh and enjoyed playing practical jokes. He adored being thought of as Santa Claus by little ones who would come up and ask him if he was. He loved trips to Buffalo River with family and friends, his piece of paradise at “ Margaret White”, rebuilding his 72 Chevy pickup truck, being a beekeeper, and stocking his fish pond. He liked to hear the bullfrogs from his back porch in the evenings and working in his garden. Frank said he would never be a carpenter after growing up watching his dad work so hard in the sawmill and building houses. But he ended up learning carpentry from Floyd Butler and decided to make a career out of it. He taught both of his sons his lifelong trade. He was a proud, lifelong member of the NRA. He would want to be remembered for his love for Christ, his family, serving his country, his red truck and for his huge heart. Frank is survived by his 3 children, sons, Russell and wife Merlaine Dickinson of Oak Grove,  Randall and wife Terri Dickinson of Berryville, daughter Tammy Jones and husband Randy of Western Grove, his dear friend Cheryl Schroder and her daughters, Heather and Brandie, sisters,  Ella Mae Rich of Richville, MO, Dorothy Mitchel of Richville, MO, Rosalee Carpenter of Kansas City, MO and brother Ralph Dickinson and wife Lorene of Blue Springs, MO, Grandchildren, Amber Blewett and Lonnie, Anthony and Courtney Dickinson, Candice and Drew Smith, Maranda and Brandon Taylor, Kristin and Cody Thompson, Cole and Nikki Newberry, Joel Dickinson, Audrey Dickinson and Creel, Katy and Jake Thornton and Karalee Jones, great-grandchildren, Abby, Thomas, Ashlyn, Trenton, Annalea, Cheyenne and Stetson, Mason and Josie, Brady and Rylan, Jayton, Oaklee, Rayden, Tate and Hadley (coming soon). Frank is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joyce and sisters, Margaret Winkler, Helen Skaggs, Billie Jean Harris, Joyce Crownover and Hazel Mae Cobb.  Celebration Of Life will be 2:00 PM Friday, July 17, 2020 at Church On The Hill in Berryville, AR with Pastor Keith Butler and Rick Morrison  officiating. Interment will follow at Hale Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, July 17 from 1:00-2:00 PM when the service begins.
