George Tanner Obituary

 

 

       George Tanner of Green Forest, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2021. He was born on March 14, 1942, in Quitman, Arkansas, to H.E. and Nola Tanner. On February 22, 1979, he was married to Lu Ann Lane, and the two were married for 42 years. He returned to Green Forest from California with his family in the late 1960s and started a career as a businessman and grocer. He was a pillar of the community as a member of the Lion’s Club, travelled all over the United States as a truck driver, and was a permanent fixture in the minds and hearts of the people of Green Forest for over 60 years.


        George was preceded in death by his loving wife Lu Ann Tanner; his mother Nola and father H.E. Tanner; and his brothers Robert Tanner, Jerry Tanner, and Danny Tanner; and niece Lisa Massengale. He is survived by his sister Hilda Stauffer; sons, Eric and wife Lynn Tanner, Kenneth and wife Sherri Tanner, Jody Tanner, Danny and wife Dawn Tanner, and Greg and wife Yvonne McConnell; nephews Robert and wife Stephanie Tanner, Brent Tanner, Marty Tanner, Stuart and wife Tammy Tanner, and Chris Stauffer; nieces Tracy Peoples, Charlyn Tanner, Angela and husband Steve Arellano, Debbie and husband Frank Marr, Danielle Stauffer, and Kerry Crawford; grandchildren Jessica and husband Kevin Talley of Harrison, Raymond Tanner of Harrison, Telisha Malotte of Green Forest, Uriah Tanner of Green Forest, Brendon and wife Dedra McConnell of Green Forest, Stephanie and husband Michael Griffith of Green Forest, Jody Tanner, Jr., of Harrison, Tyler Tanner of Green Forest, Alyssa Jones of Harrison, Olivia and husband Dalton Gilley of Franklin; as well as a number of great grandchildren. He was dearly loved and will be dearly missed.


       Celebration Of Life will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at First Baptist Church, Green Forest, Arkansas. Pastor Van Edwards will officiate with interment following at Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Monday, May 31, 2021 at Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest.
