Glenda Jean Scott, known to all simply as Glenda, lived a life characterized by unwavering love, infectious friendliness, and thoughtful generosity. Born on January 14, 1953, in the close-knit community of Berryville, Arkansas, Glenda's journey came full circle as she passed away peacefully in the same town on July 5, 2025. Her spirit, imbued with the warmth of her personality and the depth of her Christian faith, continues to inspire all who knew her.
Glenda's life was a testament to the power of dedication and the beauty of simplicity. A proud graduate of her local high school, she went on to devote 33 years of service to Tyson Foods, where her commitment to excellence was evident to colleagues and friends alike. In her later years, she channeled her passion for helping others into her work with St. Vincent De Paul, serving her community with the same vigor and compassion that marked her entire career.
Her family was the cornerstone of her existence. Glenda's love story with her significant other, Ed Lunsford, and his cherished son, Brady, was one of enduring partnership and mutual respect. Her children, Jennifer Johnson, Terry Newberry, and Jerod Newberry, were her pride and joy, and she instilled in them the values of kindness and integrity. Glenda's siblings, Jay Dee, Dale, Dwayne, and Charlyn, shared not only a familial bond with her but also a deep friendship that stood the test of time. The light of her life shone brightly in her grandchildren – Grant, SeAnna, Aaron, Ian, Cash, Avaleigh, Harrison, Bennett, and Lydia – each of whom carried a spark of her spirt. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and Mike Scott.
Glenda's Christian faith was the guiding star of her existence, providing her with the strength and serenity to face life's challenges with grace. Her love for God was evident in her every action, and she lived her beliefs through her kindness and charity toward others.
A woman of diverse interests, Glenda found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was a culinary artist, with every dish she cooked infused with love. Her hands were rarely still, as she found peace in the meticulous art of cross-stitching. Her home was a reflection of her heart, decorated with care for every holiday, each corner telling a story of celebration and togetherness. The garden was her sanctuary, where she cultivated not just flowers but also moments of tranquility and reflection.
Glenda's legacy is one of love and friendship. She had the remarkable ability to make everyone feel like someone special, to listen with an open heart, and to offer a smile that could brighten the gloomiest day. Her life was a lesson in generosity, showing us that the most profound impacts are often in the small acts of kindness we bestow upon one another.
Let us honor Glenda's memory by emulating her virtues: by loving without reservation, by extending friendship to all, and by living thoughtfully with an awareness of the beauty that surrounds us. Glenda's journey on earth may have concluded, but the story of her impact is far from over. It is carried forward in the lives of those she touched, in the laughter of her grandchildren, and in the countless memories shared with family and friends. Glenda Jean Scott, your radiant spirit will forever be a beacon of light in the hearts of those you've left behind.
