J.R. Langston, 86 of Green Forest, AR passed away Wednesday November 6, 2019. Born April 29, 1933 at Green Forest, AR, he was the son of the late Ray D. and Monta M. (Porter) Langston. He attended Green Forest Schools and enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served his country during the Korean War. After his service time, J.R. moved to Pine Bluff, AR and met his wife, Anna Faye Ferguson. They were married December 31, 1956. J.R. had worked as a Game Warden, was a farmer and owned and operated J.R.’s One-Stop at Hugh for a number of years. He enjoyed cooking, gospel music, gardening and spending time with his family. He never met a stranger, loved telling stories and visiting with folks. He was a member of the Elks Club and his hobbies were hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his daughters, Aliecia Wheeler and husband Tommie of Vender, AR, Terri Harness of Alpena, grandchildren, Stryker and Abe Wheeler, Tyler and Kelby Harness, sisters, Ann Davis of Marshall, Mary Jo Wolf and husband Dick of Green Forest, brother Jack Langston and his wife Kay.
Besides his parents, J.R. is also preceded in death by his wife, Anna Langston, one son, Steve Langston, son-in-law, Buck Harness and 2 brothers, Gene and Buford Langston.
Celebration Of Life will be 10:00 AM Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest with Brother Tommie Wheeler officiating. Interment will follow at Alpena Cemetery.
