Janie Lou King, age 89, of Alpena, AR passed away Sunday, August 21, 2022. She was born October 10, 1932, in Lorenzo, TX, daughter of Gerald Cleveland Owen and Essie Carmen (Lloyd) Owen.
On September 2, 1950, Janie was united in marriage to Robert (Bud) Douglas King in Clovis, New Mexico. Bud and Janie moved from Texas to Arkansas in 1956. She worked at Franz Food for a couple of years until Bud stared Harrison Contracting where they spent many years running it together. She was a member of Osage Assembly of God Church since 1979. She volunteered where needed and never missed an opportunity to volunteer at polling sites during elections. She enjoyed cooking, reading, taking her family to the movies and her buffalo. Her most prized title was being Memaw.
Janie is survived by her sons Reggie (Ladonna) King of Alpena and Keith (Frances Sue) King of Alpena.
Grandchildren Brandon King, Brent (Cecily) King, Billy Hach, Jason King, Leslie (Laura) King, Makita (Chad) Williams, Heather (JC) Nelson, Ruben King, Casey Gatlin and Bubba (Kesha) Gatlin.
Sister in laws Earlyne and Wonette and brother-in-law Donald all of TX.
Great Grandchildren include Kelsey King, Tatum Reddell, Kylie King, Jacob King, Gabby King, Ryker King, Kyle King, Keegan King, Reagan Nelson, Ella Nelson, Brett Williams, Landon Williams, Cayce George, Keylee Junkins, and Shae McCartney.
Great-Great Grandchildren include Bristol Ray Reddell, Rosey Mae Williams, Bentley George, Aidan McCartney, Conley Gatlin, and Emery Gatlin.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Bud King, son Earl Owen King, one sister Bab Hammons of TX, one brother Lloyd Owen of TX, and Great-Great Granddaughters infant Jessica Liane King and infant Whitley Gatlin.
Celebration of Life for Janie will be Saturday August 27, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest with Pastor Jerry Scitern officiating. Interment will follow at Carrollton Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 – 11:00 AM prior to the service.
