Jessica Lynn Brock – 2/17/1975 – 11/30/ 2025
Our Songbird…
Lynn was Jessica's middle name which means, "Strong Tower" due to the circumstances surrounding her birth in Germany. This was the badge she carried throughout her life. She was known for her strength of character, determination, faith, and joy. She was kind but bold, steadfast and visionary, creative, and spontaneous. Jessica was a true friend, and defender of faith and family.
The early part of her childhood was spent in Thousand Oaks and the latter part in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada in the small community of Grizzly Flats. It was in Grizzly Flats that she enjoyed riding her horse, Moonlight, with her family over creeks and mountainous terrain.
From earliest childhood she was always arranging plays and performances, like the Sound of Music, with all her sisters and entertaining them all, playing dress-up from the large JC Penny storage bins that her father obtained on a hauling job! Any neighbors and cousins were always included, of course! Jessica was very strong physically. As a young teenager, in Grizzly Flats, she would beat all the boys in arm wrestling, rope climbing and the obstacle course her father built on the property for Christian summer camp. This was very intimidating to all the boys at the time, but she was just strong, not boastful. She even helped her dad build small storage barns one summer for a side business. As an adult when she moved to Green Forest, Arkansas, she helped put in the needed fences on the property and lined all the pathways with rocks found on their 3 acres. Whatever she did she put her heart into it.
After graduating from California State University, Northridge Jessica taught at Bethany Christian School in Thousand Oaks. This is special because she attended preschool at Bethany Christian School. She and her best friend, Felice both went to school there. Jessica later married Felice’s brother. It was amazing to watch her put on school performances, even sewing some of the costumes just like she did when she was playing with her sisters, a completely natural fit!
She was so excited to become a mother eighteen years ago and she had the privilege of staying home with her three children. Her husband worked hard so she could stay home and homeschool them for many years. She poured so much love into her family and was an amazing cook and baker. She didn’t even use a recipe most of the time.
When her children got a little bit older, she tutored children, especially those with special needs. She understood the unconventional ways students learn because she herself was a student with dyslexia, who didn't learn to read until the age of 11. A compassionate and creative teacher, she developed a program that was outside the box and assisted many children to be able to learn the reading and math skills needed to survive today in our society. She also taught art and music during this time and there are many children today who love music and art because of her inspiration.
Wherever she was located she was always using her talents in music, art and sewing. Helping sew her sister's prom dress, sewing a beautiful dress for her mother for Mother's Day, and making many creative gifts for family and friends. She used her talents to sew her children’s clothes as well, involving them in the process so they could have the fabric they wanted.
At church, Jessica was always involved with the worship team, starting in the little red one room schoolhouse/volunteer Fire Department of Grizzly Flats when she was a teenager. She attended church regularly, demonstrating her faith and her love for God.
When she couldn't obtain her clear credential for teaching in elementary schools from California, due to her experience had been with private schools, she found another way to help support her family. After working extra for a year in the Southern California area, they were able to move to Arkansas. Berryville Elementary School in Arkansas offered to let her teach music for a year at their school so she could take the test to obtain her clear credential and then work full time as a music teacher for them. Her supportive co-workers helped her prepare for the state test and she became a music teacher at their wonderful school.
When she was fighting cancer, the teachers at Berryville Elementary even gave of their sick time so she could get treatment. The churches in their area including, Bible Baptist in Omaha and the Cowboy Church in Green Forest, and several churches in California gave of their resources and time to help the family with fundraisers and love in multiple ways to assist the family in their time of need. The people of Northwest Arkansas have been amazing! They embraced strangers from another state and loved and assisted them in any way they could. The community in Berryville, Omaha, and Green Forest supported the Brocks as they started their new life in Arkansas.
God has demonstrated his love for the family in ways beyond belief. There have been multiple churches even churches in other countries and states who have been faithfully praying for over two years through this fiery trial. In answer to prayer, from a prayer warrior in the Second Baptist Church of Paso Robles, a family member of the Brock's former church in California, Conejo Koinonia, donated a brand new van to Jessica and her family so she could not only fit the family inside, but also drive the round trip of 3 hours for cancer treatment at least once a week. It was a specific prayer request that God answered in an amazing way. The timing of the prayer and gift were impeccable and neither one knowing of the other!
The take-away of all this is that God is with us, no matter what trials come and even though we do not know the answers to all our questions, He is there helping and loving us every step of the way to shine for Him.
Jessica worked hard to provide for her family and even worked up until October all while going through cancer treatments. She loved them so much and she did her best to stay on this earth for as long as possible to so she could be there for her husband Ben and their three beautiful children: Elijah, Isabelle, and TeAvi. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
Jessica is survived by her husband Ben of the home, children Elijah, Isabelle, and TeAvi all of the home, father Loren (Karen) Snider, mother Laurie (Joe) Jordan, and sisters Renate (Tom) Paine and family, Alicia (Alfred) pratt and family, and Kristina Snider and family.
Jesus said, "For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of Him who sent me. And this is the will of Him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that He has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day." John 6:38-40
