William Joseph (Joe) Youngblood, age 93, of Alpena, AR passed away Thursday, November 26, 2020. He was born March 23, 1927, in Parthenon, AR son of Ernie Ambrose and Frances Elizabeth (Farmer) Youngblood.
Joe began working at an early age. By age 14 he and his younger brother Jim traveled by themselves to Colorado and Wyoming to work in the harvest. On January 19, 1946 he married Opal Adean (Bartlett) Youngblood. Joe worked in timber as a logger then owned and operated a sawmill at Osage, AR. Later he worked at Powell Hardware and Lumber in Green Forest. A number of years later he returned to work in timber. He also worked at Alpena Texaco station, operated a tow service and began driving a school bus, which he continued to do until he retired. He still remained active working on his farm until his health failed a few years ago.
Joe is survived by two sons, Bill Youngblood (Joetta) of Alpena, Danny Youngblood (Phyllis) of Harrison, two daughters, Oma West (James) of Alpena, Hope Wells (Gary) of Alpena, 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren, two brothers, Ron Youngblood (Hazel) of Berryville, Pete Youngblood of Yakima, WA, 3 sisters, Marie Arnold (Richard) of Harrison, Kathryn Henderson of Jasper, AR, Carolyn Scoles of Colorado Springs, CO.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Adean, two children, Roger and Kathy Youngblood, five brothers, Max, Lex, Doyle, Jim and Jesse , three sisters, Velma, Christy and Ruth.
Graveside service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Plumlee Cemetery. Shane Gilliam will officiate with interment following. Visitation will be 1:30-2:00 before the service begins.
