Joseph “Joe” C. Metzger, Jr., age 93 of Holiday Island, died on Sunday, December 11. He was born April 18, 1929, in St. Louis, MO, the son of Joseph and Henrietta Deters Metzger.

On September 16, 1950, he married Loretta Gudines. He loved fishing, golfing, woodworking, and most of all his family. He worked for Union Electric from 1958-1988 as a pipefitter and always put his family first. Joe was a true family man and his love and commitment to Loretta and his children was unrivaled.  He will be dearly missed by all. 

Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and dear friend.  He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Loretta Metzger (Gudines), his daughters Kathleen Follmer (Gregg), JoEllen Gentles, and Lynda Metzger, his only son Joseph W. Metzger (Susan), his 3 grandchildren Ryan Follmer (Dawn), Jeremy Gentles (Hope), Timothy Metzger and many other family members and friends.
