LaDena Nicholson

LaDena Nicholson, of Alpena, died on Tuesday, January 3rd at the age of 79. She was born April 25, 1943, in Boone County to Lona and Rachel Smith Wheatley.

LaDena married the love of her life, Reginald Nicholson on August 18, 1961.  They celebrated 49 years before his passing in 2010. She was a caregiver for many years, having worked for various organizations, including the Area Agency on Aging. Her hobbies included playing Bingo, crocheting, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

She is survived by her 5 children, Preston Nicholson of Alpena, David Nicholson and wife Tracy of Valley Springs, Mickey Nicholson of Alpena, Mary Wilcox of Alpena, and Nikki Brown and husband Kirk of Denver, CO. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as 1 brother, Johnny Wheatley and wife Lula of Alpena.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lona and Rachel Wheatley, husband Reginald Nicholson, 1 brother, Eudene Wheatley and 1 sister, Lona O’Neal.

Arrangements are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest. Private interment will be at Alpena Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at smithfamilyfuneralhome.net.
