Larry Wayne Thomas of Eureka Springs went home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 29, 2025, at the age of 73. He was born January 22, 1952, in Merced, CA, to Leroy and Aileen Fisher Thomas.
On June 13, 1970, he married Susan Venhaus, spending 54 wonderful years in marriage and together they raised 1 son, Jason Thomas. They eventually relocated to Searcy, AR, where Larry owned and operated Advanced Restoration Service, and he served faithfully as a pastor of 2 Baptist churches. In retirement, Larry and Sue relocated to Eureka Springs where he kept busy as a transit driver for Eureka Springs Transit.
Larry was a sincere man who enjoyed the quiet. He loved a good, deep conversation, and he didn’t mind arguing to help make his point known. He enjoyed hunting, history, and riding motorcycles. He was a member of the Optimist Club. But most important to Larry was his faith and his family. He was interactive with his family, and he enjoyed being with them as much as possible. He loved to spend time reading and studying the Bible, and he was a member of Faith Christian Family Church in Eureka Springs where he was known for having a servant’s heart, being involved in many ministries.
Larry is survived by his wife Sue of the home, son Jason Thomas of Eureka Springs; 2 grandsons, Tyler Thomas of Eureka Springs and Gabriel Thomas of Berryville; 1 great granddaughter, Lyra Sulffridge; 1 sister, Rebecca Hollingshead of Searcy; 1 nephew, Allen Thomas; and 2 nieces, Traci Niece and Suzette Thomas.
He is preceded in death by his parents Leroy and Aileen Thomas and 1 brother, Richard Thomas.
Celebration of Life service for Larry will be a graveside service at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Letona, AR, Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 2:00 PM with Pastor Chad Hill officiating. There will be a viewing from 1:30 - 2:00 prior to the start of the service. Online condolences can be made at www.smithfamilyfuneralhome.net.
