Lillian Elizabeth Carpenter, of Alpena, AR, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, October 11, 2018. She was born in Alpena, the daughter of Tom and Alice (Dillingham) Bailey. Lillian attended Alpena Schools and graduated with the class of 1948. On April 13, 1951 she was united in marriage with Jerry Carpenter.

Over the 61 years they were married she dedicated her life to her family and being a homemaker. At Christmas time she loved giving her homemade jelly away and enjoyed teaching the grandkids how to make biscuits, apple pies and blueberry cobblers from scratch. She liked root beer floats and Twinkie time with her grandchildren and 4 o’clock coffee time with Jerry every day. Lillian attended Grace Worship in Alpena.

She is survived by her son, Jerry (Deb) Carpenter of Wichita, KS, daughters, Conzetta (Kelly) Walton of Wichita, KS, Starleene (Hal) Bryant of Alpena, sister, Florine Thomason of Harrison, 8 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jerry Carpenter, son, Terry Carpenter, sister, Christine Stephens and one brother, D.L. Bailey.

Celebration Of Life will be 3:00 PM Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest with Pastor John Bartlett officiating. Interment will follow at Alpena Cemetery.
