Luther Frank Battenfield, of Green Forest, AR passed away on April 8, 2022, in Harrison, AR at the age of 78.
Luther was born in Harrison, AR to William Frank and Elsie June (Morris) Battenfield on December 27, 1943. He has one sister who survives him, Virginia Ruth Paul, of Harrison.
Luther worked hard during his lifetime, having many different careers along the way. He was a banker for Security Bank, and he set steel for a construction company in the 70’s. He was also a pistol-smith, a welder, a machinist, a farmer, and lastly, he owned his own business, L&J Electric in Green Forest. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising and hunting quails. He loved music, dancing, and shooting and collecting guns.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Gale (Bailey) Battenfield, of Alpena and his two children, Cindy (Battenfield) Johnson of Berryville, Jeffrey Luther Battenfield of Alpena. He was blessed with and survived by five grandchildren: Emily (Johnson) Squires and husband Tyler, Jeremiah Johnson all of Berryville, Taylor Battenfield of Fayetteville, AR, Jacob Johnson of Clarksville, and Madison Battenfield of Fayetteville, great-granddaughter, Elsie Mae Squires.
Besides his parents, Luther is preceded in death by his brother-in-law Harold Paul of Harrison.
Celebration of Life will be 1:00 PM, Friday, April 15, 2022, at Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest. Brother Rick Mann will officiate, and interment will follow at Alpena Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:00-1:00 PM before the service.
