Martha Jane (Janie) Mays, age 68, of Berryville, AR passed away in her home on Wednesday, May 20, 2020. She was born October 24, 1951, in Hot Springs, AR daughter of Eugene and Alice (Bryant) Spurlin.
Janie was a Carroll County resident for a number of years and retired from Tyson Foods in Berryville. She later worked at the Senior Center Thrift Store in Berryville where she met her second husband, John Mays. They were married on October 28, 2018. Janie loved the Lord and her church. She was a member of Berryville Landmark Missionary Baptist Church where she served in a number of areas, including playing the piano and keyboard, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, and assisting in the office. In her free time she enjoyed crocheting, knitting and being with family and friends. Janie is remembered as a loving, kind lady who always put others first.
Janie is survived by her husband John Mays, her mother, Alice Spurlin, one brother, Ronnie Spurlin and wife Theresa of Hot Springs, sister, Barbara Jones and husband Bruce of Hot Springs, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
She is preceded in death by her first husband Tommy Lawrence, her father, Eugene Earl Spurlin and one brother Jimmy Spurlin.
Private Graveside Service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at Carrollton Cemetery. Pastor Jewel Vance will officiate with interment following.
