Marvon High Obituary

Marvon Eugene High of Green Forest, Arkansas departed this life on September 25, 2025.  He was born July 21, 1940, in Berryville, AR to Milton Roy and Linnie Bell Smith High.  On April 6, 1960, he married Vivian Jean Wisdom.

Marvon worked for different members of Powell Farms for 50 years, Gene and Valance, D.K., Betty, and little Kirk.  From 1969 to 2019, working and keeping cattle, and then later turkeys.  After retiring, he would still visit the offices and feed store to visit at least once a week if not more.

From the time he was small, his favorite hobby, pastime, or recreation was relegated to horses. Whether training, riding, tending, feeding; watching rodeo and westerns; anything to do with horses. One they had for many years was their buckskin Yellowstone. They later obtained a mare of the Bar line, D-Bar.  When D-Bar gave birth to a filly, the AQHA name they chose for her was High Bar Lady, to keep the Bar line, but to also incorporate the High name into the name as well.  He maintained horses up until a few years before his death.

Marvon is survived by his son Jed High and wife Donitta; son-in-law Tom Lawrence; grandsons Ryan Ewing and family, Milton High, and Dalton Lawrence; granddaughter Caitlin Rousey; great-granddaughter Ryin Grace Ewing; and siblings Lester High, Arlis High, Gary High, Larry High, Kenneth High, Carolyn Sue Fultz, Marlene Webb, Peggy Wolfinbarger and their families.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Milton Roy and Linnie Bell High; his wife of 63 years Jean High; their daughter Marvona Ewing; and siblings Bernice Dignan, Maxine Smith, Daisy Swofford, June Smith Horton, and Danny High.

Celebration of Life visitation and memorial for Marvon will be Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest, AR.  Service and interment will follow at 2:00 pm later that same day at High Church and Cemetery.  Pastor John High will officiate the service.  Online condolences can be made at smithfamilyfuneralhome.net.
