On September 3, 2024, at the age of 68, Pam Yarberry of Berryville, AR, peacefully entered eternal life surrounded by her loving family. Her adventurous spirit and love she shared with those around her will be fondly missed.
Pam, a spirited and adventurous soul, began her life on July 25, 1956, in Harrison, Arkansas, born to Robert “Bob” Johnson and Virginia Sue Curtis Johnson. She was the oldest of 4 children. She was raised in Valley Springs, Arkansas where she spent her childhood exploring the hills of Boat Mountain. She often led her brothers, sister and cousins on countless adventures, a reflection of her early independence and a hint of her slightly bossy nature.
After graduating high school, Pam moved to Chicago, IL. Shortly after settling in, she faced a significant health challenge, the diagnosis of Guillian-Barre Syndrome. Despite the severity of the illness, her resilience shone through as she made a remarkable recovery.
After her recovery she began a new chapter of her life as a mother to Katrina and Renae. This marked the beginning of her lifelong legacy of love and unwavering commitment to family.
Pam soon returned home to Arkansas, longing to be close to family and raise her girls at home in the Ozarks. In 1988, she faced yet another life altering challenge when she was involved in a car accident that almost claimed her life. Once again, her strength and resilience shone through, and she made a remarkable recovery. Determined to continue growing and achieving, she went to Arkansas Tech University and earned a bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Motel Business Management. She graduated at the top of her class, doing all of this while raising her girls. Marking yet another significant accomplishment.
When Pam returned home to Carroll County, she became a small business owner of Nu 2 You in Berryville. She loved to travel and enjoyed a good concert. She was so very proud of each of her 7 grandchildren, and she loved them dearly. And we cannot forget her deep love of Alan Jackson!
Pam’s legacy is one of strength, perseverance and an unwavering commitment to helping others. She lived a life that was truly well lived and the impact she made on the lives of those who knew her will never be forgotten. Her love to her daughters, grandchildren, family and friends will be felt for generations. The memories we all have of this fine Lady will endure for our lifetimes.
Pam leaves behind her 2 daughters: Katrina Newberry and husband Colby and their children Nolan, Madleigh Sue and Hollis of Green Forest, Arkansas; and Renae Yarberry and her children Alex, Joesph “JoJo”, Ricky Isaac, and Vivian of Berryville. Also surviving are her stepmother Deanna Johnson of Memphis, TN, sister Rhonda Buckner and husband Jody of Springfield, MO, sister Amanda Johnson of Memphis, TN, and brother Brandon Johnson of Phoenix, AZ, and so many treasured nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends that were like family.
Pam is preceded in death by her mother Virginia Sue Johnson, father Bob Johnson, loving brothers and best friends James Johnson and Bennie Johnson and a nephew Aiden Johnson.
Celebration of Life service for Pam will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Forerunner House of Prayer Church in Green Forest. Online condolences can be made at www.smithfamilyfuneralhome.net.
