Ramona Lavon (Atchley) Nance born September 4, 1933 to Raymon and Bessie Atchley. She passed away July 30, 2020 at the age of 86 years in her home north of Green Forest, AR after a short bout with AML (acute myeloid leukemia).
Ramona graduated from Green Forest High School in 1951 where she played basketball for the Lady Tigers. After graduation her work experience included working at the Kraft Cheese Plant in Berryville, AR, the Green Forest Public Schools, the Carrol County Health Department, housewife and mother to three rambunctious boys.
Ramona accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very young age. At her death, she was a member of the Trinity Freewill Baptist Church in Green Forest.
Ramona was united in marriage to Billy R. Nance on March 6, 1953. They enjoyed the joys and sorrows of married life together for 67 years. She is survived by her husband, Billy R Nance; three sons, Renne Nance and his wife Betty of Nixa, MO; Reyburn Nance and his wife LaVon of Green Forest, AR; Raymon Nance and his wife Sheila of Green Forest, AR; 7 grandchildren (and their spouses); 17 great grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and, a host of friends. Ramona is preceded in death by her parents, Raymon and Bessie Atchley; one grandson, Michael Nance; her sister, Joyce Meador; and, her brother Norman Glen Atchley.
Ramona will be interred at the New Home Cemetery, Green Forest, AR under the direction of the Smith Family Funeral Home. The family is planning a private burial and memorial service.
