Robert Gary McKnight passed away surrounded by family on December 22, 2024, in Branson, Missouri at the age of 70. Born on August 30, 1954, in Fernandina Beach, Florida, Robert's life journey was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family, his passion for the simple pleasures in life, and his enduring work ethic.
A proud graduate of Istrouma Senior High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Robert went on to build a successful career in restaurant management, where he was known for his charismatic leadership and his ability to bring out the best in those who worked alongside him. After many fulfilling years, he embraced retirement with the same vigor he had in his professional life.
Robert's heart was always fullest when he was surrounded by his loving family. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Cheryl Taylor, and their blended family, which was the cornerstone of his happiness. His children, April Michelle Sanders (Jeremey) of Berryville AR, Melanie Henshaw (Danny) of Athens LA, Christy McKnight (King) of Oak Grove AR, Mandi Arnold (David Proctor) of Green Forest AR, Jesse McKnight of Branson MO, and Chantel Moore (Chip) of Alpena AR, along with stepchildren John Cinq-Mars (Hilary) of Green Forest AR, Spencer Cinq-Mars (Cody) of Green Forest AR , Dishell McCoy (Alex) of Green Forest AR , David Taylor (Savannah Surface) of Poplarville MS, and Thomas Taylor (Raegen) of Purvis MS, will cherish the memories of a father whose love knew no bounds. His legacy continues through his 23 grandchildren, who will miss their grandfather's warmth, guidance, and the joy he brought into their lives.
Predeceased by his sister Shelby Dean, mother Maebelle Crowder McKnight, father Robert Lee McKnight, and granddaughter Kaitlyn Henshaw, Robert's spirit is carried on through the stories and laughter they shared, and the impact he made on everyone he met.
Robert's interests were a mirror of the man himself—simple yet profound. He had a love for country and southern rock music that was as deep as his roots in the South. His hobbies included feeding the deer that would venture near his home, a testament to his gentle nature and love for all creatures. His passion for cars reflected his appreciation for craftsmanship and the freedom of the open road. Above all, Robert enjoyed drinking a cold beer with his friends and family, and spending time with his grandchildren, teaching them life's lessons through his actions and his words.
Throughout his life, Robert touched many lives with his generosity, his laughter, and his ability to make everyone feel like family. His presence was a source of stability and comfort to those around him, and his absence will be deeply felt by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
As we say goodbye to Robert Gary McKnight, we also celebrate the indelible mark he left on our lives. His story is one of love, laughter, and the enduring strength of family. May we honor his memory by living as he did—with kindness, dedication, and a zest for life.
A memorial service will be held to honor Robert's life, where his family and close friends will share memories and find comfort in the legacy he leaves behind. As the sun sets on a life well-lived, we take solace in knowing that Robert's journey continues in the hearts of those he loved.
