Ruby Mae Parks, age 99, of Green Forest passed away Monday, May 9, 2022, at Harrison, AR She was born August 12, 1922, in Doyle, TN, daughter of Ezra and Viola (Reavis) Barger. Her family included 10 children.
Ruby grew up on a farm in Tennessee along with three of her brothers and graduated from Pleasant Hill Academy in Pleasant Hill, Tennessee. She moved to Detroit, Michigan and worked as an aircraft riveter during World War II.
On June 6, 1946, she married Walter Parks who preceded her in death in 2019. Ruby and Walter moved to Green Forest in 1952.
She was quiet and unassuming and meticulous about everything she did. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, taking care of her home, doing yard work and was an excellent seamstress. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Green Forest where she attended for over 50 years.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Thomson and husband Bob of Green Forest and Angie Huff and husband Kenny of Osage; Grandchildren Kim Allen and husband Michael of Green Forest, Crystal Carter and husband Scott of Tallahassee, FL, Jared Thomson and wife Leslie of Tonitown, AR, Susan Fancher and husband Joe of Rudd; Great grandchildren, Austin Allen and wife McKenzie of Harrison, Kyle Allen and wife Shayln of Green Forest, Allison Fancher of Rudd, Caden Carter of Tulsa, OK, Keaton, Crete, Keleigh and Kiara Carter of Tallahassee, FL, Blake, Melana, and Dawit Thomson of Tonitown, AR, and 1 great-great grandson Walker Michael Allen of Harrison.
Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Pickens Cemetery. Rev. Nester Rivera and Rev. Van Edwards will officiate with interment following.
