Sue Hocking

Virginia Sue Hocking, 80, of Omaha, Arkansas passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021.  She was born July 9, 1940 in Green Forest, Arkansas, the daughter of Dennis Lee Wisdom and LaVeta (Robinette) Wisdom Standlee.

Sue graduated from Blue Eye High School in 1958 and moved to Kansas City, MO. She married Don Hocking and they celebrated over 50 years of marriage.  Sue worked as a cashier at H.O. Peet & Co, E.F. Hutton and retired from Smith Barney.  Upon retirement Sue and her husband moved back to Shell Knob, Mo.

Sue is survived by her 2 daughters, Denise (Tony) Barnes, Omaha, AR and Leah (Bryan) Doll, Garden City, MO and Camden Wood of the home, great grandson whom she raised since birth. She is survived by 3 grandchildren, Heath (Christian) Barnes, Omaha, AR, Rachelle Blackburn, Hamilton, MO and Lacy Denny, Kansas City, MO.  She has 13 great grandchildren, Mariah Blackburn, Hunter Blackburn & Hudson Herrera all of Hamilton, MO, Gracie, Wyatt, Hadilynn, Cecelia & Liam Barnes all of Omaha, AR, Dalton and Lane Doll of Garden City, MO and Braylon & Gavin Griffin of Kansas City, MO. 

She is survived by brothers Jackie (Nadine) Wisdom, Granby, MO, Jimmie (Loretta) Wisdom, Berryville, MO; sisters Jean (Marvon) High Green Forest, AR, Mary Ann (Mike) Roberson, Granby, MO and Barbara (Eddie) Allen of Monette, MO and many nieces and nephews.  She is survived by her long time friend Roxy Katz of Shell Knob.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Hocking, parents, step father, Nathan Standlee, brother Randy Wisdom and sister Caroline Wisdom, granddaughters Brooke Wall & Tara Denny and grandson Adam Barnes.

Visitation will be from 1 – 2 PM on Monday, February 22.  Funeral service immediately following at 2 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home, Green Forest, AR.  Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery.
