Susan Chatterton Obituary

Susan Angela Chatterton Wilkins, known affectionately as Susan Chatterton, was a beacon of love and creativity whose life touched countless hearts. Born on April 7, 1966, in the beautiful city of Charleston, SC, Susan's journey was one of warmth, friendship, and unwavering care for those around her. Her life was a testament to the power of simple joys and the beauty of everyday moments until she passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025, in Eureka Springs, AR.

Graduating from Green Forest High School in 1984, Susan carried with her the memories of a youth filled with promises and dreams. She dedicated her life to her family and is survived by her beloved children—Nathan, Aaron, and Nicole Fitchue—who were the center of her universe and whom she raised with boundless love. She is also lovingly remembered by her brother, George Chatterton; her grandchildren; aunts; and many dear friends.

Susan's parents, Charles and Misako Chatterton, who preceded her in death, instilled in her the values of kindness and imagination, which she carried throughout her life. She found solace and joy in the company of her cats, the nostalgic tunes of 80s music, the expressive world of art, and the serene embrace of the outdoors. Her love for these interests was infectious, often bringing together friends and family for moments of shared happiness and reflection.

Those who knew Susan would describe her as the epitome of being loving and friendly, with a creative spirit that could brighten even the darkest days. She had an innate ability to see the beauty in the world and in the people around her, making each encounter with her a cherished memory. Her laughter was a melody that echoed in the hearts of those she loved, and her presence was a comforting embrace in times of need.

Reflecting on Susan's approach to life, the words of renowned author Maya Angelou resonate deeply: "Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud." Susan lived by this sentiment, always striving to bring light and color into the lives of others, even on their cloudiest days with the brightest smile. Her legacy is one of unwavering positivity and the courage to find hope in every situation.
As the sun sets on a life lived with such vibrant passion and love, we bid farewell to Susan Angela Chatterton—a loving mother, a cherished sister, and a friend to all. Her memory will continue to inspire us, reminding us to embrace life's simple pleasures and to always be a source of kindness in the world. Susan's journey may have reached its gentle close, but her
spirit and the memories she created will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
