Terry Chaney Obituary

Terry Curtis Chaney, age 67, of Green Forest, passed away on January 15, 2026. He was born April 1, 1958, in Harrison, AR, to R.C. and Irene Gray Chaney, and grew up in the Carroll County area.

Terry left a legacy of love and the value of hard work to his family. He was known for his big, kind heart, and as a man who would do anything for anyone who had a need.  Though quiet and soft spoken, he would always get his point across. He was a God-fearing man who made a difference to all who knew him.

Known as “Papa,” to his grandchildren, Terry enjoyed every opportunity to spoil them that he could find. He absolutely adored them. One special memory they will cherish is that he always had a pocket full of candy for them to enjoy. He often joked with them by telling them, “If you can’t be good, be good at it!” He was so proud of their accomplishments.

Terry spent his career as a farmer, working with both cattle and chickens. He was an amazing stone mason, building beautiful fireplaces and rock work on homes and other places. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, mushroom hunting (especially with the grandkids), and watching nature shows. He was an avid NASCAR and Razorbacks fan.

Terry is survived by his 5 children, Amber Chaney of Texas, Terra (Robert) Fairweather of Oak Grove, Bryan (Micaela) Chaney of Berryville, Shayne (Makenna) Vaughn of Harrison, and Emma Taylor of Springfield, MO;  7 grandchildren, Raigan Richardson, Ryan Richardson, Chaney Fairweather, Kyle Chaney, Ashtyn Vaughn, Weston Vaughn, and Kayson Vaughn; and siblings Randall Chaney, Lisha Chaney, Robert Chaney, and Susan Griffith Chaney.

He is preceded in death by his parents R.C. and Irene Chaney, brother Marty Chaney, and partner and friend Terry Lynn Vaughn.

Terry will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. His family will cherish the life they shared with their dad and papa.
