Thelma Poyner

Thelma Christine Poyner, age 73, of Green Forest, died on February 11. She was born March 12, 1949, in Lilbourn, MO to Leonard and Deloris Thurston Williamson. On November 23, 1973, she married the love of her life, Fay Poyner and they settled in Green Forest to raise their family.

Thelma loved her family dearly. She enjoyed crotchet, sitting and watching the birds and deer and visiting with her friends. She worked at Tyson’s for many years and then retired from Green Forest Schools where she worked in the cafeteria. She was a member of Coin Baptist Church.

Thelma is survived by her husband Fay; 3 sons, Eugene Poyner and wife Robin of Green Forest, Robert Poyner and wife Mary Ann of Green Forest, and Leonard Poyner and wife Jenny of Green Forest; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Don Williamson and wife Carol of Ellington, MO, Travis Williamson and wife Vanessa of Ellington, MO, and Jeff Williamson and wife Carla of Ellington, MO; and 2 sisters, Lorene James and husband Jesse of Green Forest, and Sherry Wall and husband Kerry Mountainburg, AR. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; 1 sister, Pam Poyner; and 1 brother, Allen Williamson.

Celebration of Life memorial service for Thelma will be Thursday, February 16 at 10:00 AM at Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest with Pastor Jerry Scitern officiating. Online condolences can be made at smithfamilyfuneralhome.net.
