Velma Nadine Tranbarger of Green Forest passed away April 6, 2025, at the age of 90. She was born April 6, 1935, in Mountain View, MO to Paul and Averil Smotherman.
Velma was known for her friendliness and understanding to her family and friends. As one who loved being around people, she loved to talk. She was a “go-getter” who believed in working hard. She was a homemaker, and she enjoyed gardening, and cooking, especially food from Guam from when the family lived there. She had a passion for making homemade decorations and her greatest love was making Christmas decorations.
Velma is survived by her daughter Aleta Fanning of Green Forest, stepson Daniel Tranbarger and his wife Selina of Texas, granddaughters Tessa, Danett, Justin, and Sarah, sister Vera Thirkield and her husband Dwight of Seattle, nephew Wesley Thirkield and his wife Cindy and their children Jon, Danny, and Kira, and nephews Kevin Speer and Kerry Speer.
She is preceded in death by her parents Paul and Averil Smotherman, husband Gene Tranbarger, sister Violet Dinwiddie, and son Paul Tranbarger.
