Violet R Shipman

Violet Shipman, age 75, of Batesville, AR, formerly of Green Forest passed peacefully on February 14th, 2020, at Woodlawn Nursing Home in Batesville, Arkansas.

Violet was born and raised in Green Forest, daughter of Orval (Red) and Blossom (McKinney) Brawley. In 1962 Violet married the love of her life Joy Shipman.   After Joy got out of the Navy, they made their home in Batesville, Arkansas.  Violet attended Beautician school, but she quickly decided that was not her thing.   She later went to work at White-Rodgers and worked there until she retired.  Violet  was a kind and loving caregiver to her husband Joy for a number of years. She loved animals and would take in any stray that she found. In her spare time she enjoyed antiquing and being with friends. Violet was a member of Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church.

Celebration Of Life will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest with Brother Jerry Spurlock officiating. Interment will follow at Rule Cemetery.  Visitation will be 5:00-6:30 on Tuesday, February 18th at the Funeral Home.

Violet is survived by one brother Sam Brawley of Green Forest, a number of nieces, nephews and cousins who will miss her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Joy Shipman, parents Orval and Blossom Brawley, sisters Billie Pettit  and Jeanette Lozano.
